The Wheel of the Year is turning towards the Summer! The Spring Equinox was over a week ago and it's April Fool's Day tomorrow. So what!?! It has been so darn cold and dark in Amsterdam the whole winter that a couple of poetic thoughts do not help much. Reminds you about the Balls of the Brass Monkey, eh? The journey starts today after the office hours at the Happy Hour of our business community. A few great colleagues leaving the company, so farewell's in the agenda. Then most likely I will join a few questionable characters for additional inspiration at our non-local watering hole; famous 6 Stars establishment at Slutty Dike.

Los 64 dl kwiknitraat (HgNO3) in water op, en 36 dl kaliumthiocyanaat. De beide oplossingen worden gemengd en het gevormde neerslag afgefilteerd. Het neerslag 3 x wassen met gedestilleerd water, en warm wegzetten om te drogen.
Los voor iedere 100 gram neerslag 5 gram gelei in water op, en meng het neerslag met een beetje gomoplossing tot een plastische massa, die je gemakkelijk tot pillen kan draaien. Leg deze pillen op een stuk glas en laat ze drogen.
De pillen geven, als ze worden aangestoken, de bekende slangen die uit luchtige as bestaan. Door de zwaar giftige eigenschappen van alle kwikverbindingen moet men bij de bereiding van dit preparaat uiterst voorzichtig zijn. Bv. In een goed trekkende zuurkast, of buiten. Daarna de handen goed wassen
